Your Vatio questions answered
Find answers to common questions about telematics, choosing a setup and using Vatio.
Choosing Vatio
What is telematics?
Telematics uses connected devices to collect and share information about vehicles or equipment. With Vatio, that can include locations, journeys, driving information and camera footage, depending on the products you choose.
What can telematics help my business do?
It can help you understand where vehicles and assets are, review journeys, support driver coaching and investigate incidents. What you can see and do depends on your devices and how you choose to use the information they provide.
Who is Vatio for?
Vatio supports UK limited companies managing at least one vehicle or asset. That includes businesses operating cars, vans, HGVs, machinery, trailers and other portable equipment.
How do I know which setup to choose?
If you're unsure which products suit your business, our recommendation journey can help. We'll ask a few straightforward questions about your business, vehicles and assets, then suggest devices suited to your fleet.
Do I need to speak to someone before ordering?
No. If you already know what you need, you can choose your products online and continue through our order application without speaking to us first. We'll review the details with you before anything is placed, and no payment is taken at that stage. If you're unsure which products are right for you, you can get a personalised recommendation first.
How much does Vatio cost?
Your price depends on the products and setup you choose. Start a recommendation to view suitable options and their prices, then review the subscription, installation and contract details before ordering.
Products and installation
What is the difference between vehicle tracking and asset tracking?
Vehicle tracking is designed for working vehicles and their journeys. Asset tracking helps you monitor equipment such as machinery and trailers, including suitable items without their own power supply. Asset trackers report their location periodically rather than live.
Can I install a tracker myself?
Some products, including Atom-e, are designed for self-installation. Others use an engineer-installed setup. Check the fitting requirements for the product you select.
Does Vatio offer cameras as well as trackers?
Yes. Vision Uno records the road ahead, while Vision Duo adds an inward-facing lens. Our recommendation journey can help you find the camera setup that suits your business.
Using the Vatio platform
Do Vatio products work with a platform?
Yes. Vatio devices work with the Vatio platform, which brings the information from your devices together in one place so you can see where your vehicles and assets are and where they've been.
How do I log in?
Use the Login link on the Vatio website or visit portal.vatiotelematics.co.uk, then sign in with your account details. If you need help accessing your account, get in touch with our team.
What can I see in the platform?
Depending on your products, the Vatio platform shows vehicle locations, journey history, driving behaviour, geofence alerts, reports and supported camera footage.
Can I manage vehicles and assets in the same platform?
Yes. Your Vatio vehicle trackers and asset trackers can all be managed in the Vatio platform.
Where can I find installation and platform guidance?
Visit Resources for available guides, videos and product information. If you need help with a specific task, contact our team.
